SELF REGULATING CABLES

Self-regulating cables are used for the roof and gutter heating, melting of snow and ice, to keep a drain path for water to flow freely away from the house.
In cold climates, it is necessary to plan ahead to ensure that pipes, sprinkler systems, and sewer drains do not freeze. Self-regulating cable is a perfect solution for these applications because it regulates its output depending on the ambient temperature, making it more energy-efficient to run.

Careco self-regulating cable is well suited for both residential and industrial applications and can be installed indoors and outdoors.

Self-regulating electric cables for the roof and gutter heating automatically adjust their power output to compensate for temperature changes.
The self-regulating cable is ideal for pipes freeze protection applications, as it regulates its output depending on the ambient temperature.
The two parallel bus wires encased in a semi-conductive polymer matrix, form the cable. This cable contracts in cold ambient temperatures, which lead to increasing their power output, and expand as the ambient temperatures increase, hence lowering the heat output.
Careco self-regulating cable vary its heating output depending on the ambient temperature, making it more energy-efficient to run.

Cable Construction:

Outer sheath PVC Jacket
Screen Tinned Copper Braid.
Filler XLPE
Conductor insulation Semi-conductive Polymer Core
Heating conductor Copper Bus wire

General Installation Guidelines:

The following general installation guidelines must be observed while installing the Careco Self-regulating Cables:

  • For sloppy roof loop the self regulating cable on the overhang area of the roof.
  • It should extend 6 inches above the line where the wall joins the roof.
  • For flat roofs, the self-regulating cables should be spaced at appropriate gap for creating drainage paths.
  • Secure the self-regulating cable to the roof using the metallic Clips while placing on the sloping / flat roofs.
  • For Pipe tracing, wrap the self regulating cables over the pipe and valves, in a manner that they make a 45 Degree angle with each other.
  • Do not cut the cable.
  • For further installation details, do contact our trained supervisors.

Advantages:

Roof gutters, drainpipes and valley gutters are kept free from ice and snow.
Melt water can be drained off without hindrance.
No risk of snow or icicles suddenly falling from the roof.
No risk of damaged buildings because of penetrating water and subsequent frost breakings.
No expensive repairs after the winter season.
Frost free pipes under all weather conditions.
Prevents frost breaking of plumbing network.
